Bought a new GeForce video card and it came bundled with Cyberlink's Power
DVD 5, Power Director, Power Producer and Media@Show.
I am new to video editing, already have Ulead DVD Movie Factory and Adobe
Premiere Elements. Is this Cyberlink software any good, I don't want to
clutter up my PC with useless programs.

I have powerdvd 5 and it seems a bit complicated for me.i'm not an expert
,just giving you an input.try it and see how you like it.for some reason mine
won't let me remove it from add/delete programs.hope this helps.best of luck

Well I use PDVD, PP and PDir. They all work OK and I tried several similar
progs before committing to them. They have a few quirks but that said, it
seems to me that computers and video is not a match made in heaven and you're
going to have challenges at every point, whatever software you use. Power
Director for example knocks the socks off MS Movie Maker. I guess it depends
what you're planning to do with them.
For me I take digital stills and movies and use PDir to edit them all into a
single file (MPEG2 movie file), with sound track, music (where there are
stills) and transitions etc, then use PP to burn 2 or 3 such completed MPEGS
onto a DVD with a little menu (the menu system on PP is very limited but OK).
I've also captured old VCR tapes to MPEG files using PDir then edited them in
the same way.
One thing - always disable any virus checkers and firewall things before
using video software - the CPU needs all the time it can have to cope with
video!

I adore PD v5. PD v2.5 was OK, PD v3 was good... PD v4 was terrible but
they finally seem to have got it right with v5... the only thing I object to
is HAVING to make a menu for a DVD. I prefer mine without but that was only
an option in v3. Since v4, it's been compulsory.

Thanks for the replies, will install them and see how it goes.
One thing is that it doesn't say on the CD which versions they are and if
it's like Nero bundled with a CDRW it'll be an old version.

If its with the JVC Everio it is Power....version3 express.
I thought it was a great product. It has most of the basic features
great for MPeg-2 and performed really well on my 1.7ghz pc with the
firewall and nortons running. :-)

But I usually only use the basics anyway. :-), :-)

The only issue i had was changing the sound levels between video and
music across the timeline (I still havent solved it).
I use MM for everything and was only using this for a friend on his
Mpegs so I havent put too much effort into it. If anyone knows the
answer drop me a line. Yeah I know this is a WMM forum :-)

I would still use Nero for actually creating the DVD as i find that a
lot more versatile.....It also does Mpegs but runs like a dog on my PC.
