cut in virtualdub& settings?

Marked and cut out the part of 700megs ,90minutes avi but when you
choose save as avi virtualdub starts endless processing into a much
larger file(instead of making it smaller), so perhaps some video/audio
settings need to be changed?

Yes, the default compression option is 'uncompressed' and the huge files....
use the menu > video > compression to select what you want.

Make sure Video > Direct Stream Copy is selected.
