A user would like to have the Shutdown, Restart and
Hibernate buttons displayed instead of the menu that
selects the option you would like to do. How do I get the
buttons to display? We are on a network domain here so
I'm not sure if it is an enforced policy.

Thanks.

Hi

Have a word with your Administrator to see if it is possible.

Lynda--

One way to get the equivalant done or icons to represent each of those
buttons and more options is to use one of Karen Kenworthy's excellent power
tools called *Karen's Show Stopper* which allows you to create shortcut
icons for each of these functions including Shutdown, Power Off,
Restart/Reboot, Logoff Current Users, Suspend (Leave Power On), Hibernate
(Power Off), Force (Don't Wait for Other Programs to End). You can *save
shortcut icons for any of these options*:

You can download Showstopper and other of her Karen's Powertools here:

Also a nice list of shutdown options was posted here on March 11, 2004 by
MVP Torjier Bakken:

Create a shortcut to the file %windir%\system32\shutdown.exe and add
the following parameters:

-s -t 0

Note that shutdown.exe often has a bad habit of ending up in "It is now safe
to turn of your computer" message when you do a shutdown.

Some other solutions (free) that does not have this problem:

A)
You can use a vbscript to do a shutdown:
http://groups.google.com/groups?selm...60%40hydro.com

B)
PsShutdown.exe in the free PsTools suite
http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/fr.../pstools.shtml

C)
Wizmo.exe

D)
Budja
