Customizing New Slide AutoLayout Choices

Arrrgghhh

How can I change the available autolayout choices
available when I click the new slide button from my
toolbar ?

I customized my toolbar by adding the insert slide button
from the insert command list. It provides a list of
different slide types I can insert. But I hate Times
Roman Fonts. I want to change the fonts in all of the
autolayout choices available for a new slide.

I thought you just bring one up, modify to your liking and
save as a template (.pot) with the same name (ie Bulleted
List.pot). But when I go back to insert new slide and
click bulleted list, I get the same Times Roman slide. Am
I not allowed to customize the contents of the autolayout
choices ?

Sounds like exactly what I would like to do. But what
template file where do I open ? I cannot find the
templates in the autolayout anywhere ? I can insert one
and change it there but that did not work.

Sorry for the confusion. Could you please give specific
instructions (click by click) to get the template file
open. All I know is start ppt, open blank pres, or click
on new pres from menubar. Don't think thats what you mean
though.

Thanks

Bob

The blank presentation has a template too. All presentations have a
template. To edit the template you have to go to View > Master > Master
Slide, make the changes and save the template as I described. However, you
can make the change I detailed on any slide of any presentation and
then add a text object to test the new default settings. Try it and you'll
see what I
mean.

I figured it out ! Amazing. 3 plus years I have bitched
about this problem before turning to newsgroup.
Newsgroups do work !

One followup Q though - Is there any other way to sift
through newsgroup msgs ? Like to do search or
categorize ? It seems painful to have to walk through
10000 msgs looking for the gold nugget you need on page
350.

Thanks
Bob

Yes there is, and I'm glad you asked! Google is your friend. Go to
http://www.google.com/, click on the "Groups" tab, click on "Advanced Groups
Search". Then enter microsoft.public.powerpoint in the Newsgroup box and
enter your search criteria and click on Google Search. Google has "years"
of posts, so you might want to limit the date range. For example, if the
question is about PowerPoint 2002, you would want to set the start date to
about 11-20-01 and the end date to today's date.

You can do some powerful searches in google.
