I am accustomed to an earlier version of PowerPoint and am having a few
problems adjusting to PP 2002.

a) In PP from Office 97, at the bottom left there were icons for quickly
switching to Normal View, Slide Sorter View, Slide Show and Notes Page. In
the PP 2002 version only the first 3 are present. Is there a way to add the
missing icon for Notes Page?

b) When I insert a new slide into a presentation, it defaults to one with 2
textboxes. Is there a way to make it default to a blank slide?

Thanks.

Create a default "blank" presentation with your own defaults

Dear Glena. Thank you very much.

However, I know how to customize toolbars. My problem is that there seems
to be no way to add the icon for "Notes Page" to the toolbar at the bottom
right using customize. It only has 3 icons (for Normal View, Slide Sorter
View, Slide Show) but not the icon for Notes Page that I recall was present
in my earlier version of PowerPoint. When within customize, I try to copy
the NotesPage to it, it just will not accept it there. Is there something
different I should do?

Thanks.

PowerPoint 97 did offer you a view of the Notes page, but that was the only way
that you could access the notes and add to them. In PowerPoint 2002 and 2003,
the Notes Pane was added and is always available just under the Normal slide
pane. If you want to access the Notes Page quickly, you can use Alt+V and then
