Is there a way to make it so that when you browse in Windows Explorer, it
will only show folders/files whose names meet certain criteria?

Let me explain: we are running a company application that creates Job
Folders under a master directory on the server. The master directory is
called "Images", and when a job is created at one of our company locations,
the program creates a folder for that job that has a sequential number and
appends the first initial of the location to the newly created folder.
So--for our Norfolk location, it creates a folder called "N (job number), for
our Omaha location: "O (job number)" etc.

I would like it to be so that when our Norfolk location, for example; goes
into the master "Images" folder they will only see the folders that have the
"N" prefix and not all the folders for our other locations. This would make
it much simpler for them to find things (there are currently over 14,000
entries in the master "Images" folder from all of our locations).

All our users are using XP SP3.

If there is a way to "customize" the view in Windows explorer per the above
requirements, I would appreciate any advice on how to do it! Do I need to
perhaps purchase something third-party to do this?

Yes, in XYplorer this is extremely easy to achieve by defining a "Visual
Filter". To show only your Norfolk stuff you filter the list by "N*" and
only items beginning with "N" are shown in the list. To set this filter you
simply type "|N*" (pipe-N-asterisk) into the Address Bar and hit Enter.

There's a demo of this near to the end of this little video:

In Windows Explorer select View, Arrange Icons by, Show in Groups. Is
that what you are looking for?

Hope this helps.
