customize table of contents in Word 2003

I customized my outline so that the letters under the roman numerals are
lower case instead of upper case which is a requirement of our customer. How
do I make the Table of Contents match the outline and have lower case letters?

If you used outline numbering, the TOC should pick up the numbering from the
headings.
