When I click the search button on IE6 and then customize, I get
a window that pops up "Customize Search Setting". On this dialog
it says "Loading search settings" but nothing ever happens and
the current settings do not appear.

I have the same problem on both Win2K and WinXP and there is a previous post
from about a month ago.

MS has made changes I guess (you can view the source from
http://ie.search.msn.com/en-us/srchasst/srchcust.htm ) so hopefully one of
the MSVP's in this NewsGroup will know who to contact at MS to have it
looked into.

Using that link (instead of the Customize button) should allow
you to press Refresh if the page seems to be stuck with the
Loading... symptom. Then you can use the buttons to choose
your Search bar mode and choose the search providers you want
to use for each mode.

There is not the same functionality that there once was.
Apparently this is the new functionality which MSN Search (the primary provider)
is going to provide. In particular in the companion page

http://ie.search.msn.com/en-us/srchasst/srchasst.htm

there doesn't seem to be any more support for the Next button.

If you need that sort of functionality I suggest you try something
else such as Copernic.
