I don't like to have display the Favorites menu just so that I can get to
infospace.com all the time.

The page that I prefer for my "home" page button is not the same as the page
that I like to seach with. Also, I don't like the MSN search engine that is
associated with the Search button (too slow; too many ads with graphics).

Is there a way for me to assign infospace.com to my Search button?

Alternatively, is it possible place additional buttons on the toolbar; one
to redirect the browser to infospace.com for example? The old Netscape
Communicator browser used to have such customization.

OK. I discovered that I can set the Links button (located to the right of
the URL address box) to include a drop-down menu choice for infospace.com.

Instructions for how to customize the Links menu is at
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/customizelinks.htm

Another way get to that web page is simply by clicking on the Links button >
Customize Links

Instead of buttons try using an Address bar shortcut.
An advantage of it is that you can start typing your query
with the shortcut.

Or if you are not using the default AutoSearch site you could
replace it with the other one that you are more interested in using.
To use it just type ? find or go followed by your query.

If you really want to use the "Search Assistant" (aka Search Explorer bar)
see (for example)

(MSKB search for
srchasst
)
