Hi,
We have a customer running Windows XP sr3. The computer is on a small
network (Windows sbs). The profiles on all computers are local.
Customer reported that the customer lost his profile. Upon inspection I
noted that his profile was using a Temp profile. I have seen this problem
before so I recreated the profile (renamed the profile folder).
Next day customer powers down and the profile is once again reverting back
to a temp. I booted to safe mode and followed procedures for rebuilding
profile. i powered down the computer twice and restarted just to make sure
everything was OK and it appeared to work.
Well this morning customer reported profile is missing again. AV is up to
date.
Does anyone have any ideas on why this keeps recurring?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi Dan

There should be an entry in the log of pc and or server indicating a
corrupted file. Im swaying that the file is on the pc as you say you have
recreated profile on server but then this will pull down the profile from pc
which has a possible corrupted file.

Hope this helps, also if you are not aware SBS NG is
microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs
