Custom View problem

Hi there.

I have a spreadsheet with an unwieldy number of columns, and I'm
trying to use Custom View to make it easier to work with.

Essentially, it is a business planning assumptions' log, with columns
A-J detailing the assumption. Then, each department in the company has
a number of columns to detail the impact of the assumption on their
team, against various criteria. (i.e. Dept A has L-AN, Dept B has AP-
BR and so on)

I've created Custom Views to show A-J plus each department's columns,
and one for the whole spreadsheet.

However, when I try and create one to show just A-J, I encounter
problems. The view saves OK, but when I try and move back to it from
one of the other views, I get two error messages:

"Cannot shift objects off sheet"

Then when I click 'OK'

"Some view settings could not be applied".

Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

Many thanks in advance.

IM

The first part:

XL: "Cannot Shift Objects Off Sheet" Error Hiding Columns
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-ca;211769

Remember to look for comments and merged cells.

I've never used custom views enough to know why that other message shows up.
But I've never noticed what was lost, either.

<<"Some view settings could not be applied".>>

This usually displays when the sheet is protected.
