Custom Template - Graphics question

I have a custom template that I use for all my website pages. I've finally
figured out how to get it to come up although it's a multi-step step process
and a pain (File,New..then a new side window shows up, I choose More
Templates since the old original template window doesn't appear anymore like
it used to, then a window asking me if I want to download the templates,
then the original template window shows up with a tab for Custom, which I
have to choose, then highlight my template and it shows up). If you can tell
me how to get it easier, I would really appreciate it, since I asked about
this before and didn't get an answer yet.

The problem I have is that after I create the page and go to save it,
another stupid window shows up asking me if I want to overwrite the graphics
or use the ones in the images folder. I have to change the setting to use
the ones in the folder, click OK, and then it saves the
page...............EVERY TIME I create the new pages.

How can I get this to be the default setting? I can't find it anywhere and
having to go through all this to get to my template and then have the stupid
program not know that I want to use the same graphics over and over is a
pain. Why have a template if you have to keep telling it not to overwrite
what you already have? Nothing changes from page to page except the text
going on it so why can't the program be told that?

I use FP2003 now......and I never had this problem with FP2000. The
template was always in a folder called 'shared_templates' which is now hidden
from me within Front Page itself although I can find it easily enough in
Windows Explorer. From what I understand part of my problem is that I never
started the site with a WEB NAME......all folders and files are only under My
Documents/My Webs Should I create a web name, and if I do and move all the
folders and files into it, will I have problems with the links on the pages
that are already created and then have to republish them all?

Will that help with the problems I'm finding regarding the template issue?

The best way to work with templates is not to....

This is what I do .. it saves time.

I make a template and save it and call it template.htm and mark it Don't
Publish.

When I want a new page I open the page called template.htm and then I do
File | Save As and name it the name I want for my new page and name the
title at the same time... (that saves time later on).. the template.htm
pages closes and the new page is made and saved with the template.... the
template.htm is there for the next time you want it.

If it's a dwt I'm using...

I just open a blank page and attach the dwt to it...

Simple, Quick and no messin around.

you have a mess of loose pages/files scattered about in your My Webs folder.
yes, you must always work with a Web/Site Opened if you do it that way FP will manage your pages and links.
try creating an empty web, and drag all those loose things into it. once you've got it together in one web, then Recalculate Hyperlinks...I think that should fix it.

Since you are using FP2003, create a page using your template, but
with no added content. Then save this page as a DWT (Dynamic Web
Template).

For new pages open the new page, then attach the DWT. This will have
all your common components (Banner, Navigation, Colours, Fonts etc.)

With the web in My Webs you should have no problems, however it may
become more convenient to add new folders in My Webs and convert to
Webs, for each web site you build - if there is only ever going to be
one website this is unnecessary.
