When putting in a location of 5" from the left and 3" from the top for the
delivery address when printing a custom 9" x 6" envelope, Word keeps the 3"
from the top but reverts back to auto for the measurement from the left. Any
ideas on why this happens and how to fix it?

Don't use custom paper sizes which will confuse most printer drivers used
with Word Instead use a standard paper size and make up the difference with
margins.
