Absolutely right! And to make it easier, select the first, hold your shift button down and select the second.
After both are selected, choose the animation Exit, and set to Fade. If you want both to fade while your new one comes in, Set both to "With Previous", since the default is "On Mouse Click".
If you want them to fade after your new one comes in, then click out and back to the first to select "After Previous

which version of PowerPoint are you using? In PPT 2002 it should be n
problem at all. Use the Exit animation "Fade" for both of them and set star
of the second one to "With previous"
