recently, as I'm typing, the cursor moves to places that are crazy. Like
when I was typing this first sentence, twice the cursor jumped backed and had
me typing in the middle of previously typed text. Sometimes it will delete
what I've already typed as I'm typing and I don't even realize it until it's
too late. When I'm typing an e-mail it will jump to the To or Subject line.
For example as I was typing the last sentence I got to the word e-mail and
the "mail" part ended up at the end of my Subject above. Do you know how I
can correct this?

What operating system do you have?

What kind of mouse? Is it wireless? Change the channel and\or put in new
batteries.

Try a wired mouse and see if it solves the problem.

So, it is a problem with the touchpad?

What is the make and model of your laptop?
Did you updated your touchpad drivers from Microsoft update? (if you did,
roll back the driver)...or go to the website of whoever made your laptop and
get a new driver from them.

Have you ever touched the pad and give it a "shock" with your finger? That
could damage or kill it.

I don't think it's the touchpad since the problem occurs while I'm typing.
I'm not even using the touchpad at the time.

When you type your arms are over the top of the touch pad. You may be
tapping it with your wrist or a long sleeved shirt could be tapping it. And
this time of year static could be getting to your touchpad from arms or long
sleeves when not even making contact with it. Hopefully you will figure this
oddity out. Good Luck,

Joe

It could very well be a problem with your touchpad. I have seen it before.
On some of our HP NC6000 model laptops, we did touchpad driver upgrades from
the Microsoft website (couple of years ago). All of them starting behaving
just as you describe. We rolled back or got a new driver from HP and the
problem was solved. I have seen damaged touchpads do the exact same thing
too.

And Kemco is correct too. Try to change the sensitivity of your touchpad.
Go int the touchpad settings and configure it to be not so sensitive. See if
that helps. You can find the settings under Control Panel - Mouse.

And can you answer my questions from my previous post?

there were no updates available for the drivers. How do I make my touchpad
less sensitive? I can't seem to find a place to adjust this.
