Cursor Image

A perfectly functioning, maintained windows XP home - the
one that came with my new notebook - has sudenly started
to throw out funny looking cursors.

Every cursor, in every application, is normal, except that
they now have two small vertical bars, aligned vertically,
one above the other, and about the size of a normal dash
character, following them everywhere.

I have tried changing the cursor scheme. This gives me
the new cursors, but the vertical bars are still there.
You would be surprised how this drives you nuts!
