I enabled cursor highlighting of windows, and now I can't
find a way to turn it off. Anyone know where that control
is located?

I think you're referring to the "activate windows on hover" feature - right?
If so, you can use TweakUI to toggle this setting:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/p.../powertoys.asp

Inside TweakUI, you'll find the setting at the Mouse\X-Mouse node.
