A friend has just contacted me for assistance with a minor
problem. His email follows........

"The cursor won't jump to the next line when I hit "Enter" so I have to type
in one long string. Initially I thought it was Word playing up so I
reinstalled but the problem didn't go away and it is also affecting notepad
and email - in fact everything where typing is involved -
any ideas. "

Is there somewhere that this can be adjusted?
XP Home.

Thanks for any suggestions that I can pass on.

Hamish

Perhaps the "enter key" is broken, try a different keyboard.

On a laptop? If so, your friend should look for a Fn key combination to
change the key back.

If pressing Shift/Enter gets the preferred action, double-click the OVR
button on the status bar below. This might be carrying over to other
programs. Also look at the Status bar for other features that have been
turned on.

This might be a common problem discussed in an Office ng.. you might try
posting there.
