My PC is running XP Home SP2, DSL connection, 2GB of RAM, Pentium D
3.0Ghz processor. I have Windows Defender installed, fully updated.

I've noticed that when Defender is turned on, it causes a slight delay
in launching IrfanView 3.99. This delay is about 5 seconds. I don't have
this issue with any other program. Just IrfanView. When Defender is turned
off, IrfanView launches immediately, like any other program. I checked, and
IrfanView is not listed in Defender's 'Quarantined items' folder. If it
was, of course, IrfanView wouldn't be able to run at all.

Any ideas how to correct this very minor, but peculiar glitch?

strange i am running irfanview on 5 computers that have WD on it and i do
not see this glitch
