Curious about error message

I have a desktop computer with XP Home SP1 installed. I've been
looking at the system error logs, and have noticed one error message that
appears every single day. As far as I know, it has not effected the
performance of my computer. However, since it is an error message, I'd like
to know if it should (or can) be corrected. For security, I have deleted
the numbers in the message:

<<The IP address lease ***.***.***.** for the Network Card with network
address ************ has been denied by the DHCP server ***.***.***.*** (The
DHCP Server sent a DHCPNACK message).>>

Again, this error message appears every day in the log. I went to a
website, http://eventid.net. It explains in more detail what these error
messages mean. Here is the link to my particular error message:
http://eventid.net/display.asp?eventid=1002&source=dhcp

However, the details are too technical for me. For the record, mine
is an "error" message, not a "warning." Can this be fixed? Should it be?

Some more details about your environment would be useful here. The DHCP
server usually sends a DHCPNack when it cannot accomodate a DHCP client's
request for an IP. This could be because the client is requesting an IP
that it was assigned previously but now has been given to another machine.
In this case, the DHCPNack is expected. If the client subsequently is
assigned a new IP (which sounds like the case in your case), everything is
fine.
