Curious Behavior

Quick Story:
I was looking through my email and clicked on a piece of mail that
looked curious. It did not have an attachment. When I clicked on it,
my outlook windows started to behavior strangely. It was subtle, but
I notice that list of mail had two emails items highlighted which is
generally impossible unless one is holding down the CTL or ALT keys.
I klicked back and forth between the two (again, neither had
attachments) and the problem eventually went away. I noticed my hard
drive crunching away (this is a high-end AMD64 machine) so I
immediately killed the power.

I've run McAfee and Spybot Search & Destroy and have two virus scan
engines on an SMTP proxy at the perimeter of my network. That makes
three virus scans from different vendors and spybot.

Any thoughts... other than I'm paranoid?

Cheers,

~D
