Everytime this update tries to download I get an error that it failed to

First...if you don't have a separate machine you can use for the Beta IE7,
then install it at your own risk. Never install Beta software on your only
or production machine. Also, do not install IE7 with the idea that it will
resolve any problems with IE6, as it won't, and may cause even more. Many
people have made that mistake, and wound up with bigger headaches. If you
must install the IE7, then read the Release notes first, as least you will
be prewarned.

For the update:

Windows Update Fails:

Courtesy of Frank Saunders -

Click on START and the RUN put in each line seen below and clicked on
OK. (do each one line at a time)
REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\System32\wuapi.dll
REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\System32\wuaueng.dll
REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\System32\atl.dll
REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\System32\wucltui.dll
REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\System32\wups.dll
Disable your anti-virus when obtaining the updates.
Make sure that your firewall is allowing the connection to Windows Update .
This would be on ports 80 and 443.

Go back to Windows Update, but then select View update history. (When you first get to website for Microsoft Update-Windows Update, look at left-hand column, under Options. Press "Review your update history".)
If this is on V6 of Windows Update, you should be able to click on that error note (the red X), and see some info.

Post back with the info (error # & text) displayed.

It is IE6 however when I click on the red X nothing happens, nor does
anything happen if I click on the text link next too it. At the bottom of
the browser it shows the link as
http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6 which is the default link to
windows update. But clicking on the X doesn't do anything.
