Does anyone know of incidences where their CTRL & SHIFT
keys have stopped functioning? If so, how did they solve
it??

Problem only seems to be intermittent, but mostly not
fuctioning. Was doing a lot of cutting and pasting using
the keys so I wouldn't have turned on some weird feature
by mistake?

Proving rather difficult to login at the moment....

Did they all stop working, that is the ones one the left as well as the
ones on the right? One side only? Then your keyboard is faulty. Both
sides? Then I don't know, you might still want to try another keyboard
to verify and eliminate hardware as a cause.

They all stopped working. Very weird. Plugged in a normal
keyboard and all is ok. Doesn't look good

Just wondered if I'd turned on some bizarre key function
by mistake...

Your keyboard is kaput. It happens when the same keys are used a lot.
We have keyboards in our accounting office and the <enter> key on the
numeric pad is one that sometimes fails. New keyboards are not that
expensive.

Unfortunately it's a laptop so probably won't be that
cheap...

Oh... ouch! Maybe it just needs a good cleaning or one or two key
switches replaced.
