ctfmon.exe? What it does?

I am not sure if this is the right forum for this post, but I am trying to
investigate exactly what ctfmon.exe is, and what it's purpose is. I see that
it loads each time at startup from the registry entry, and yet if I remove
it, it is replaced at reboot. I believe that this is a component of Windows
and not from some third party software, but I am having a hard time
verifying that. If anyone has any knowledge of this particular file, I would
appreciate hearing about it. Thanks!

I don't know what it is for, but I ran a search for it on
my system and didn't find such a file. I am using W2k sp4.
so I am thinking it isn't a windows file. good luck.

It's an Office component for alternative input like speech recognition
or handwriting tablets. It can be turned off, see here:
