I have exported a file of contacts from BCM with Outlook 2003, version 2.
However when I use the csv file, it does not open correctly. I have opened
it in notepad and can see why it does not open correctly. After the Mrs or
Mr of the title column it adds lots of commas, which creating lots of blank
columns before putting the rest of the data in the following row. What can
be causing this and how can I fix it. I can supply the csv file if it helps.

The commas are in the nature of CSV files: COMMA seperated values.
There must be as many commas as columns. The reason you have commas
with nothing between them is because the contacts don't have any data
for those rows.

The file not opening correctly is typically an issue with the
application opening the CSV file. What's the error?

A typical problem reading BCM generated CSV files is that BCM and other
Office apps produce Unicode (all character sets) encoded files, and
many apps only understand ASCII (Roman alphabet only) encoded files.
The Outlook CSV importer has this problem.

There was a long post on this several years ago. Apparently BCM,
like many other applications, doesn't read or write the CSV files
itself, but instead uses the Windows ODBC CSV driver.

In what way does the file not open correctly? Also, which program are you
