On a couple of computers I've checked, the csrss.exe process in the task
manager sits at around 10,000,000 "I/O Read Bytes".

I checked this out because I happened to notice on my laptop that it grows
continually and within a few hours will even get up near 1.5-2Gb
[1,700,000,000].


I've run a virus checker and did a full scan. Nothing changed.

I am hoping someone can help me with letting me know some things to check --
perhaps I changed some settings one day and didn't realize the consequences
until later. I just don't know.

I also don't know if this is 'bad', but it just seems odd.

Any help whatsoever that anyone can provide would be just great.

Thank you for replying. In the interim my IE has stopped being able to open
-- I don't know if this is related to this or not [if it is, it is a much
delayed response, as the IE issue just started, and this csrss problem has
been going on].

One followup note... I tested and was able to start IE when using the context
menu to "Start without Add-Ons".

So, I don't know if that makes it more or less related to the csrss issue...
but if it's unrelated I will work on it separately. I just wasn't sure what
information is important.

-- I did note that the csrss priority was set to high... only winlogon and
McShield have the priority this high [taskmgr and procexp do when running, I
suppose]. Not sure if this is the norm or not.
