Now available from Here (On the left, under 'News' 4th one down).

It's a biggie at 361Mb.

I've downloaded it, have yet to apply. I'm curious to see whether it will resolve my problem whereas within Vista, on second loading of game I cannot navigate game menu properly. We shall see.

Cheers Flops, I'm downloading it now Fingers crossed it solves your Vista problem.

I started playing this, but totally forgot about it - a good excuse to play a few hours at the weekend I've not clicked with it like HL2 and Bioshock, but it was still fun.

Well, it actually made my game so I can't play it at all now.

The 'navigating the menu' problem is there all the time since applying the patch, at least before I could play once before having to reboot.

Just to re-iterate, I had no problems running this game under XP.

I actually was enjoying this game just as much as HL2 & Bioshock, perhaps even more so.

I got about 75% of the way through and kinda got stuck trying to save some commander from freezing to death though.

Couple that with the problem running it in Vista and I've abandoned the game for now.

I will hang on to the game and when this system works it's way down to system # 2 and these components are working with XP Pro I will revisit it and finish it.

Or, alternatively, all I need to do is put an 8800GT in machine # 2 which has XP and I could play it.

Whatever, I will return to this game cos it's good but for now I'm uninstalling it (I do have all my saved games backed up).

Two biggest (and only come to think of it) disappointments in Vista - Crysis not working properly and Creative Sound card problems.

Oh, and it would have been nice if TOCA Race car 3 had worked.

I do prefer PC Games but sometimes think about X-Box and Playstation where for the most part, all old games are playable.

Not so with Windows, every upgrade makes a lot of our older games unplayable.

Yeah you'll just love going back to the same point in a game with the X-box . Gives you plenty of opportunities to see all that you missed the first hundered times or so . Yep you'll just love that .

I've just found out Colin McCrae's DIRT doesn't work with Vista either.

Mate lent it to me to try with a view to buying now it can be had for a tenner.

But after a very lengthy install and patching - it just throws up error messages.

I'm really beginning to go off Vista, I really think MS screwed up with this one.

A pretty GUI and some nice features does not wallpaper over the fact that it's really quite crap for games.

You really do have a thorn in your side about consoles don't you?

Why?

I seen too many hard up folk buying the stupid things and forking out for expensive games . Those folk could have spent the money on a darn good pc that would not only play games but educate their kids aswell . I got nowt against consoles its just that I think they are a drain on poor folks recources .
I also do not like the ethos of Microsoft . The way that they have invented a platform and hardware that is simply designed to make them even more money with no nthought to the social consequences . If they had put all their efforts into pc gaming I belive that they would still have made a great deal of money and that society would have benifited more .

I could go on in greater depth but I just can not be bothered typeing any more .

Nope, feel free to go on, I think you've made some very valid points and I agree with you whole heartedly.

It's just that I hadn't looked at it from that angle before.

Thinking about it, despite their quirks, PC Games are relatively cheap and we have mouse & keyboard as well as gamepad.

As well as all other PC functions.

Well said.

Cheers Flops . I got nothing against toys of any sort if folks can afford them . An I think that consoles do nothing for developing the brain . They may speed up a limited section of the brain and help your reflexes along in a narrow way but thats about it . A pc with a keyboard is a different thing altogether . You can even change the key layout to suit yourself along with hot keys etc thats some learning curve you can follow .

Crysis looks like a good game though ,wish me pc was up to playing it at a decent level .
