Hi
Have just upgraded to Windows XP and now can't get my
CDRW to work.
When installing it asked for disk which I had with
original drivers.
Windows installed so that device manager reports it is
there with signed drivers as a CDRW however device
manager also reports it as a USB storage adapter with the
unsigned driver from my original disk. I uninstalled and
tried again but it won't install without that original
disk even though it warns against installing the driver
from the disk.
It appears that XP is using its drivers to install the
CDRW but does not have a diver to run it via USB. (other
devices I have run on the USB ok).
Problem is that it does not get allocated a drive letter
and therefore cannot be accessed from Explorer, My
computer, or any other program. The "offending" driver is
falstaff.sys and I don't seem to be able to find any
update. As the unit is only 3 year old I don't want to
throw it away just yet.
Would appreciate any advice that will help get this unit
to work.
Thanks and regards,
George
