CRW4416S not seen by Win2000

Since upgrading to w2k my pc does not recognise my yamaha
scsi crw4416s cd-rw. I have downloaded the latest adaptec
driver for my aic-7850 adaptor, but w2k still cannot see
it.
My pleaxtor scsi driver still works fine. I have tried the
4416s on different id's to no avail.
I have seen posts above using the F6 key to access the
SCSI interface, when should this be used?
Any help would be appreciated.
