CRT Monitor or LCD

I read that a CRT monitor is a better choice if you play games more. The
only good thing about LCD monitors is that it saves space. Also the color
is better with a CRT. I really like the View Sonic line, both CRT and LCD.
I had a View Sonic CRT monitor that was nine years old and it's picture
quality was better than the newer Dell I have now. What is your opinion on
the CRT vs LCD?

Thank you;
David

CRT is cheaper, given the same number of pixels. CRT can look excellent at
several resolutions, where LCD has only one setting where it's crisp. LCD
color can be excellent, but off-axis there may be shifts depending on the
monitor. Unless you work in a color advertising studio, small color shifts
aren't a problem IME. LCD uses a lot less power, and it remains sharp for
far longer than a CRT.

My opinion is that the user should user whichever one makes them happy
given their particularly unique set of circumstances.

LCD is better in my opinion.
the newer ones have FAST response time to get around the gaming thing.

however for best performance you should have a video card that can handle DVI (digital) interface and buy a monitor that uses it.

I could be wrong about this, but I don't believe a CRT monitor can
use DVI cables, only LCD monitors can. DVI cables give you extra sharp
picture and text quality.

The silicon exists to put a DVI connector on a CRT. The question
would be, whether any CRT manufacturer felt the need to innovate,
when the CRT business is dying. As this document explains, if
you use DVI, you get nice "crisp pixels" inside the CRT, so
no "cable blur" from bandwidth loss in a long analog cable.
A DVI equipped CRT would potentially look better than a
more ordinary analog one. You would need a good quality monitor
to make this worthwhile.
