Hi Folks,

I am trying to set up a 2 PC network with a NIC in each PC and a
crossover cable. Both PC have an on board NIC and I have a crossover
cable between them. I have file and printer sharing enabled on both.
My PC is running Windows XP HE and my wife's is running Windows ME. I
have run the Network Wizard on both PC's and I have a Network Place of
MSHOME on both PC's. But when I open explorer I cannot see the other
computer from MSHOME in explorer. The XP machine gives me a message as
follows; MSHOME is not accessible. You might not have permission to
use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to
find out if you have access permission. The list of servers is not
currently available.

This is my first try at setting up a network. I set up the XP machine
on my ID which has administrative privileges. When I open explorer on
the Windows ME machine and open MSHOME, I only see the Windows ME
drives and not the XP machine. I have the following IP addresses
assigned; XP is 198.162.0.1 and ME is 198.162.0.2.

Can anyone tell me what I need to do to share files and printers????

Try turning the built-in firewall off on your XP box.
