Cross-references - not updating

We have inserted cross references in documents back to numbered paragraphs.
If the paragraph number changes and we update the fields of our various
cross references the cross reference does not update to the new number.

A few months ago this was working.

Any ideas?

Hi Julie-Ellen,

The cross-references probably won't update until you do at least a print preview. Also make sure you've got the 'update fields'
option checked under Tools|Options|Print.

Another possibility is that someone's locked the fields. You can do this via Ctrl-F11. Selecting the fields and press Ctrl-Shift-F11
will make sure they're unlocked.

There's one other possibility you won't want: someone's converted the cross-reference fields to plain text, which you can do via
Ctrl-Shift-F9. If that's happened, you'll need to recreate them.

Cheers
