Cross Platform Problem

I'm in a two year program to switch from Mac to PC. I have a Windows XP
laptop and an I-Mac OS 9.1 as a desktop. I have FileMaker Pro, Microsoft
Office, and Appleworks on both platforms. I've been using a flashdrive to
go between platforms and it has worked pretty well, but once in awhile the
PC will change the names of my folders and files. For example, folder "CD
Inserts" becomes CDINSE~1, and file "Josh Groban-inside.cwk" becomes
JOSHGR~1.cwk. One time it converted all the file and folder names which had
to be changed back by hand.

I know that the Windows XP and Mac OS have different file formats and that
crossing between platforms is perilous so I've accelerated my conversion and
have a PC desktop on order. I'm looking for software that will convert my
Mac files to an acceptable PC format without the curious renaming mentioned
above.

Do a Google search on MAC to PC - first item I saw was for a conversion
program.
