Hello
Could someone please tell me the difference between these 3 cables
-Cross ove
-Ethernet cable (I know it's connected from my pc to the router) but what's the diff
-Blue (it's pretty but is it the same as the ethernet

I found on the web a link saying "what is a crossover cable" I was so excited to finally get an explanation but all it did was open a diagram of the internal the thing. Still didn't say what it did that was different to Ethernet cable
Than
Jen

straingth through cable is used to connect computers via
hub, router, or switch. It called straigth through
because both end is crimpted with the same color coding.

cross over cable is used to connec two computers. to
network two computers, its need a crossover cable. cross
over cable is derived from straight through cable, the
only different is that one end is twisted. Cross over is
used to network two computers to avoid connecting two
reciev pins and transmit pins of these two computers. if
you use straigth trough these pins will meet each other so
that collision will arise.

A crossover cable is for connecting two computer directly together
without a hub. A straight cable is for going through a hub. You can
look at the ends of the cable and see if the wire colors are in the
same pins on both ends then it is a straight cable, if they are
crossed its a crossover.

The external color of the cable is irrelevant. It has no meaning. The
colors of the internal pairs is relevant.

Could be either...... cables can come in all sorts of pretty colors. I have
royal blue, medium blue, red, gray etc etc.... oh and a yellow crossover
one, just so I remember which is which.

You choose which color you want!

Who can solve this problem? I can not get the Wireless Modem Router admin page to open on the pc browser the address 192.168.2.1 keeps timing out? the light on the router is on the and the lights on the Ethernet cable is both ends on. Do I have to configer the firewall on the pc? I run vista 64bit on a 64bit cpu.
