I just upgraded to Office XP Pro. The first thing I
noticed when I opened my documents were the crop marks in
each corner. How do I get rid of this?

Hi DT688,

If you have an Asian language enabled in
Start=>Run=>Microsoft Office Tools=>Language Settings
then the crop marks will always be visible in
Print Layout view.

Otherwise they can be turned off in Tools=>Options=>View

I am having the same exact problem, but I cannot use your solution
because I do not have "Microsoft Office Tools" on my Start Menu (and
certainly nolanguage settings for Office tools).

(In case you are wondering how is this possible - I work for a large
corporation that offers us through volume licensing only the
"Standard" version of Office XP which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint
and nothing more.)

How do I get out of this situation?

Thanks!

Hi Swengtoo,

You may need to check with your Corporate Admin folks.

If your company deployed MS Office and did not
include the menu choices to use the Office tools
they may also have incorporated multilanguage features,
including switchable menus and multiple language
proofing tools. If that's the case then the
crop marks are not switchable if they are still on
after turning off Tools=>Options=>View [x] Text boundaries.

If in Start=>Options you see an Asian Typography,
or Complex Script tab, or in Tools=>Options=>General
you have a check box for setting ruler options to
'character units' or in File=>Page Setup there is a
'Document Grid' tab then the crop marks likely can
not be dismissed.

The language tool may be on your PC. You can use
Start=>Search for 'setlang.exe'
