Hi all
Attempting to download subject matter but it continuously fails, saying,
"an error in updating system has occurred".
Any help appreciated.

Is this the same machine where you recently did a Repair Install?

Is Automatic Updates enabled and is the machine otherwise fully patched at
Windows Update?

Is Automatic Updates offering you KB887998 or are you attempting to install
it manually?

What .NET Framework versions are currently installed?

How to determine which versions of the .NET Framework are installed and
whether service packs have been applied

=====================

Tip: Temporarily disable real-time protection by your anti-virus and/or
anti-spyware applications (e.g., CounterSpy, Spysweeper, Spybot Tea Timer,
AVG Anti-Spyware) and/or any third-party firewall (e.g., ZA) before
attempting to install the update(s). If you disable the third-party
firewall, make certain that you enable the Windows Firewall!

Hi again PA
Just to say the update in question finally installed. Don't ask me how,
because I don't know if it was me or the machine but it's ok now.
Thanks for your helpful response.
Have a good day.
