I'm doing a site for a friend's upstart business. Could someone please tell
me the various ways to incorporate credit card payment into the Order Form
page I'm creating. And how does one go about even checking to see if the card
will reach its limit or not with the order. Thank you.

The best advise I can give you is to use PayPal or similar.
There are many shopping carts that do this for that plug into Paypal.
or you can collect the user info with frontpage and on your confirmation
page provide a PayPal button,

Unless you're a programmer, you're going to want to use a pre-built
commercial solution for this.
