Came to work. All audio settings in Windows XP were gone.
The machine had lost all of it's audio device settings.
Reloaded drivers from the original CD. XP detected new
hardware, but after trying to install the drivers
generated, "Access is denied." message.
Went to Soundblaster website. Downloaded updated audio
drivers. Went through the installation process. Again
got "Access is denied." message.
Called Soundblaster tech support. They said Microsoft had
created a fix. Referred me to Article 810509 at the
Knowledge Base. Read the article. Downloaded the
pnpreg.exe file.
Ran the pnpreg file with the -l option. Did not fix the
registry problem. Instead, generated error 234 message.
I searched the database to find a specific reference to
this error message, but could not find anything to help.
Can anyone help me from here?
Thanks in advance.
