I have been reading and following directions found in link
www.geocities.com/jacksonmacd/ "How I use Security with MS Access"

I created a new WorkGroup file and saved to share network drive. I created
a shortcut that opens my mdb using the new workgroup. I opened my mdb and
created a user called superuser and added it to groups: user, admin,
developer, appuser and appAdmin

I exited Access and used the shortcut to get in, but it does not prompt me
for a user id and password. What do I have to do to make the shortcut
prompt me for a user id and password?

Thanks,
Karen

There are many more steps than just that. You really cannot skip *any*
steps.

You need to assign a password to the Admin user while using your new mdw
file (Tools, Security, Accounts, change password tab). That will cause the
login dialog to appear. Ensure that you remove all permissions on the Users
Group, and that you remove the Admin User from the Admins Group.
