Is it possible to convert a XP backup "on-disk" catalog file (a .v01)
to a text file showing the contents?

Is there any information on the internal format of a .V01 file?

I have a box full of tapes (SDLT 320), which I can catalogue using
Backup, but they contain millions of files.

The only way I can see of doing this, is by restoring every tape on to
a hard drive, and cataloguing the hard drive which has the restored
contents of the tape.

This would take some time for a 100 or so tapes...

Hope somebody can help.

Just to clarify, when I said I can catalogue the tapes with backup, I
meant of course that I can create "on-disk" catalog's with the
tapes.... It is the 'on-disk' catalog's, that's what I want to convert
to a text file or database, or to some user readable format.
