Creating task to someone and not being able to remind

When I create a task, and then assign the task to someone, I lose the ability
to set a reminder for that task for myself. I get a pop-up screen that says
"since you are no longer the owner of this task, the task reminder has been
turned off". How can I go back and set a reminder on that task to help remind
me that I have assigned this task to someone?
