Put your cursor outside of the other table and create another table there.

Thank you - that worked - one more question...what about columns next to each
other. In powerpoint it's called a column break. The reason I ask is
because my left column is going to be larger in height then the right columns
which have been split into 2 seperate rows....does that make sense?
