Creating a rule for Recents folder

I have a folder structure system based on a folder for each person and have
created a rule that moves any email from them from the inbox to their folder.
However I also want to see all my recent emails in a sequential incoming
order - viewing unread is a bit hazardous because if I read it, do something
else, come back its then gone.

So I've created a rule that copies each email to a Recents folder. Alas now
my UnRead folder shows 2 emails for each. Have tried to mark the email as
Read when it does the copy but no success. How can I write a rule to mark
all as Read on a particular folder?

Is there an alternative approach ?

thanks
-peter

Don't use a rule to copy the mails; Search Folders are designed to remove
the need for dupliacting your mails. You can create a Search Folder that
will list all the mails received in a certain timeframe (today, yesterday,
this week, last week, etc...)
