Creating .ppsx files

In previous versions of PowerPoint, if I wanted to create a slide deck that
automatically starts in Show mode, I could use the Save As command, but it
was much easier to simply rename the extension to .pps, and I regularly tell
my clients that.

In 2007, that seems to have changed. Renaming the extension to .ppsx returns
an error when I launch it. The PowerPoint Show choice in Save As appears to
write the file differently.

Anyone have any intel on that? Thanks...

Rick
PPT2007 has a security check in the XML that checks the type of file against
the extension. Therefore a "Presentation" type file with a ppsx extension
will error.

In short you can't change the extension anymore

Well...that blows...

All in the name of progress, eh? Thanks for the explanation, John.
