Lisa,
You don't really need any program except Notepad.. You type
in the code you want and save it as a .htm file... There are some
free web page building programs, but I would suggest you should
know something about HTML before you even try to use most of
them.. There is one that I have used a few times to try it out and
it seems to work pretty good called EverSoft. Go to the site below
and take a look at it... It is a very good program, but like I said, I
prefer to do my own coding in Notepad..

Hope this helps,

Hi Burt,

If she never heard of FP, what are the odds she can write her own code? <w>
I don't even have time for that! ) Granted, that method is cleaner,
but....

Lisa,

First step for you might be to go visit your local library, or a
bookstore, and read up on how web pages and web sites are made and how
they are published. Also, you may find that your ISP (where I guess you
will be holding the web site) has information available and possibly
some tools.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Kelly,
I suppose you are right about your insight.. I should have added that
there are some books that help a lot. One being: "Teach Yourself HTML
Visually". It is printed by IDG Books... She might try Amazon...
The book I mentioned is for Beginners and Intermediate. Another is
SAMS "Learn HTML in 24 hours".. A little tougher than the first one
and I would like to see the person who could learn HTML in 24 hours. <bg>

I have been using Yahoo's free "GeoCities" with satisfactory results. See
www.geocities.yahoo.com . My own website is at
www.geocities/cgs716ll/index.html . It has nothing to do with computers!!

When I started making web sites for my small company I
used front page with lots of frustration. I finally got
a simple program that lets you do it without writing any
HTML code. Just make your pages, move things around, and
publish. I use Netobjects Fusion (currently still on 4.0
but upgrading to 7.0) You can buy the 7.5 version
outright, or order a "free" version of 7.0 (paying about
$4 shipping) from www.netfirms.com
Of course they'd like you to then use their web hosting,
and I have 1 free site and two paid sites on their
servers, but 1 paid site on another server. (once I got
the hang of it I put up a site with calendars and forum
for a nonprofit organization.

To the OP...
Checkout a local college or high school for classes on
HTML/XML or web design. They will have low cost courses and
textbooks.

There are two general types of web design programs...
WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) such as FrontPage and
Dreamweaver and others and text editors with HTML tag
support. That save you time entering the tags (codes) that
make webpages work.
You can even create a webpage with nothing more than Notepad
by using HTML code such as <p> to make a paragraph. HTML
tags are enclosed in brackets < > and have endings </ >.

Yahoo has Geocities www.geocities.com with more information,
tools and free hosting. You can make a page and post it
just to learn how.
