Creating more than 26 drives...

Hi all wats procedure to create drives more than Z:...

i brought a new hard disk and created some 3 partitions out of its 150 gb
now i cannot assign drive letters cos windows XP is not allowing me to
create drive with letters more than Z: ??

You can't. Use folders instead of drives.

Well you can use more than 26 drives if you *mount* add'l drives within
folders:

Thnx for the tip .. will it by an affect the drive where the mounting folder
is present ?? i havent tried this yet.. just want to make sure it is ok to
mount it on folders..

Agreed, but I wonder about the point of the exercise. Now the OP creates
numerous partitions, then he links them to various folders on one of his
drives. I thought it would be much simpler to have few partitions and have
the respective folders on each partition. The end result is exactly the same
but three partitions are much easier to manage than 23 . . .

Agreed

I don't know if I've ever had more than 3 partitions per drive.

hey who knows , maybe he's got more than 26 HD's in the machine !!!!

Actually, it's not dificult to get there these days, boards with sata and
ide can go up to 6 HDs (maybe more) plus 2 Cd/dvd, then there are printers
with slosts for cards witch 2 slots creates 2 drives... a card reader can
add up to 6 drives, external disks and network drives, foto cameras, etc...
even some 3G modems adds a driver... it's not dificult at all to reach
drive Z.
