Creating a driver for a legacy(?) parallel port disk drive

If I wanted to create a device driver for a disk drive that
hooks up to the parallel port (I have the .sys drivers for
Windows 9x), what should I start reading and where
should I go?

Specifically, the device is a Syquest 270 Parallel Port
Interface disk drive (270MB).

Thanks for any help.

Can anyone relate some of the overall general differences
between a Win9x/NT4 driver (works on those operating
systems) and a Windows XP operating system?

Also, are there any tricks that might be available to get
a 1995/1996 driver to work on Windows XP?

Thanks for any suggestions.
