If you are talking about making a boot cd for Windows XP home edition--the
genuine Windows XP cds are bootable.

xp was preinstalled. I got a cd that should unlock a part of my hard drive
that holds all the files that would restore my computer to the original
factory settings. this cd wasn't bootable and i need to start windows to use
it

Hi Vassago,

The recovery cd you got with the PC should be bootable--you need to contact
your PC manufacturer as they are required to give you a working method of
either reinstalling Windows or returning the PC to an ex-factory state.
They are in violation of their OEM agreement if they do not supply this.

That was in a different paragrph. most people put that meaning they are
running Windows XP Home, not that they would like to create a boot cd -
windows xp home. In your others posts you say you have a restoreCD. you
can not make a full Windows XP CD-ROM from this. If you wish to obtain one,
you must buy another copy of Windows.
