Hello
I've installed BCM - works fine from my administrator account, but I can't
create a BCM database for any user accounts that don't have administrator
rights.
I've read the other posts, but nothing seems to work.
Can anyone help?

Hello Luther
When I try to create a database using the startup wizard, it asks for
confirmation of the new name, then immediately displays a 'database creation
was unsuccessful' error.
Looking at the event log, I get the following warning at logon:

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: MSSQL$MICROSOFTSMLBIZ
Event Category: (8)
Event ID: 19011

Description:
The description for Event ID ( 19011 ) in Source ( MSSQL$MICROSOFTSMLBIZ )
cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry
information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer.
You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see
Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event:
(SpnRegister) : Error 1355.

The error message you're getting is telling you that the SQL Server
service isn't running as LocalSystem or as a domain administrator, so
SQL Server can't register a Kerberos-related Service Principal Name
(SPN) in your Active Directory (AD) domain.

This first thing to do is check the MSSQL$MICROSOFTSMLBIZ service and
make sure it is logging in as LocalSystem.

yep - the MSSQL$MICROSOFTSMLBIZ service appears to be started and logged on
as Local System...

I believe that in BCM v1, BCM users needed to be in some NT group, but
in BCM v2 all local users are given rights to connect to the sql
instance and create their own private databases. What version of BCM
are you using?

er...BCM v2 (2.00.4324.00 SP1)

I now think the Event ID: 19011 was a red herring. It's just a warning,
not an error.

Sounds like a permission error, as if BCM Setup failed to configure the
sql server instance correctly while or after creating it. I can create
a new NT user in the default Users group, login in as that user, start
Outlook, and create a bcm database without any errors.

Are these local machine or domain users? If the latter, try with the
former.

the problem is with local machine users. i'm still struggling, i'm afraid
