I'm inserting a CREATEDATE by pressing alt+F9 and than ctrl+F9 than typing in
CREATEDATE \@ "d MMMM yyyy". when I press alt+F9 to go back to normal view
nothing is displayed in the footer. however if i do a print preview than go
back to the normal view the date is now displayed. dose anyone know why this
happens and if there is a way to fix it?

After you toggle off the view of field codes, press F9 to update the field.
Note that you may need to place your insertion point in the field depending
on where it's placed after creating the CreateDate field.
